While the colder weather is still hanging around, there is no doubt that spring is just around the corner. This may have you excited to hit the Alabama roadways on your motorcycle. If you store your motorcycle for the colder weather, then getting it ready for spring is important. You want to ensure that when you get on it that first time, it is ready to go.
Bike Bandit suggests that you begin with charging the motorcycle battery. After sitting for some time, a battery can lose charge. You may want to check it out to see if it is still good, too. You do not want to end up out on the road with a dying battery. You can test it by giving it a charge and then running a test to see how long it keeps the charge. You may also take it to an auto parts store and have them test it. Most do it for free.
You also need to check the fluids. This is a great time to replace your fluids, especially oil. You also may want to drain the gas tank and refill it with fresh fuel. Fuel deteriorates over time and can cause your bike to run rough, so it is probably a good idea to just replace it.
Finally, give your tires a good once over. Bad tires cause many wrecks, so make sure to look them over good. If they are not in good shape, replace them. It’s better to spend some money now to get good tires than to deal with the aftermath of an accident. This information is for educational use only. It is not legal advice.
