From a negligent truck company to truck driver fatigue, there are all sorts of reasons why truck accidents continue to take place. Sadly, in Jasper, Alabama, and throughout the United States, people may lose their life or suffer from a permanent disability after a semi truck crash. Furthermore, there are other types of pain and suffering caused by a truck accident that aren't always given as much attention, such as lost wages and medical bills.
A truck accident victim from Mobile recently won a case against an Alabama trucking company. The Mobile County Circuit Court ruled in favor of the man, who filed a lawsuit against the company that had serviced his truck prior to the accident. According to the man's attorneys, his truck turned over on I-10 because the company did not correct a defect after servicing his vehicle.
After the accident, the victim was reportedly hospitalized for two months and he will be in a wheelchair permanently as a result of the wreck. The trucking company will have to pay the 31-year-old $14 million. Although the man was previously awarded more than $18 million, he was awarded less due to an agreement that was reached.
Recovering from a trucking accident can be incredibly difficult. However, victims who want to try and put their lives back together should explore every option that is available to them. For some, this may include reaching out to an experienced attorney who they can discuss the details of their situation with and filing a lawsuit against those who are responsible for causing the wreck.
