In different situations, certain lanes of traffic or motorists in specific situations are given the right-of-way. This means that other drivers must yield to them in order to maintain order on the roads of Jasper, and other U.S. cities. When motorists disregard these rules of the road, it can lead to motor vehicle accidents. As a result, drivers and their passengers could suffer serious injuries, which can require extensive medical treatment and have lasting effects.
A right-of-way violation was reportedly the cause of a commercial vehicle accident that left one man with multiple injuries in Mobile two years ago. According to reports, the driver of a UPS delivery truck, who was attempting to cross an intersection, quickly pulled out in front of the vehicle driven by the man who was injured. With insufficient time for him to react, the vehicles reportedly collided.
News sources reported that the man sustained multiple broken bones, including one of his clavicles and his ribs. Additionally, he suffered permanent injury to one of his arms. As a result of his injuries, he reportedly had to undergo several surgical procedures. According to reports, the man was recently awarded compensatory damages totaling $1 million for those injuries by the jury in a personal injury lawsuit he filed against UPS, the at-fault driver’s employer. His attorney argued that the UPS driver purposely ignored the basic safety rules of the road.
People who have been injured in commercial vehicle accidents may find it of benefit to discuss their situation with a legal professional. An attorney can explain their rights, as well as advise them of their options.
