Trucking accidents are all too common on the roads and highways throughout Jasper, and other U.S. cities and towns. The impact caused by a collision between two large semi trucks not only can cause significant damage to the trucks involved, debris and the aftermath of the impact can also affect other vehicles. As a result, people who are involved in such accidents often suffer serious injuries.
The drivers of two semi trucks were reportedly left in critical condition following a truck accident that occurred in Opelika recently. Both of the truckers were air evacuated to area hospitals. No further details were disclosed, however, regarding the specific injuries that either of them sustained, or their updated conditions.
According to reports, the tractor-trailer crash occurred when one of the big rigs slammed into the rear of the other. The second semi truck was stopped at a stoplight. It was not reported whether speed, negligence or some other factor might have played a part in causing the collision. Law enforcement is reportedly still investigating to determine exactly what led up to the crash.
Two passenger vehicles were also involved in the accident. They were damaged by the debris from impact of the larger commercial vehicles, as well as by the impact itself. The drivers of both of those vehicles were also injured, but their injuries were reportedly not serious.
People who have been injured in a truck accident may be entitled to compensation for damages resulting from the collision. Working with an attorney is one way for them to learn more about their rights.
