Distracted driver may have caused fatal Cullman crash

Many people carry cellular phones, which they use to communicate while at home and on the go. Despite many states, including Alabama, implementing laws to prohibit motorists from texting while driving, the National Safety Council reported that drivers who are text messaging cause 1.6 million accidents annually. Many people argue it only takes a second to read a text, but that is also all it takes for a life changing, or ending, car accident to occur.

It appears that a distracted driver may have caused a fatal collision that occurred in Cullman recently. According to reports, law enforcement indicated that cell phone use contributed to causing the auto accident. They did not disclose, however, which of the two involved motorists was allegedly using a handheld device. The accident investigation is reportedly ongoing to determine the exact cause of the wreck.

Reports indicated that the motor vehicle accident happened on U.S. Highway 31, but details were not reported regarding how the wreck occurred. According to reports, a motorcycle and a car were involved. The 58-year-old motorcyclist died at the scene after a car hit his vehicle. The 17-year-old driver of the car did not sustain any injuries.

The sudden loss of a loved one in a motor vehicle accident can put undue financial stress on a family during an already difficult time. Although it cannot ease the pain or bring a person back, it can be worth the time of anyone who has suffered such a loss to consult with an attorney. A lawyer can help you learn how to receive appropriate compensation and help.
