Wrong-way driver causes fatal motorcycle accident

Anything from chatting with a passenger to changing the radio station to text messaging could potentially take motorists’ attentions away from the road in front of them and the other vehicles around them. As most readers in Jasper are aware, even a momentary lack of attention can result in a crash. Motor vehicle accidents, especially those involving motorcycles, can have serious, lasting consequences for those involved.

Law enforcement reportedly believe that a distracted driver is responsible for a recent fatal motorcycle accident that involved a car and not one, but two motorcycles. According to reports, the two motorcyclists were riding eastbound when they were struck head on by a 19-year-old man who crossed over the centerline of traffic in his Honda Accord. It remains unknown to the public at this time what diverted the young driver’s attention. Authorities are still investigating to determine exactly what caused the collision.

Both of the motorcyclists were thrown from their bikes after being struck by the car. One of the men suffered what were reported as moderate injuries. He was taken to a local hospital, but no additional information was detailed regarding his condition. The other motorcyclist was killed.

Anyone who is injured in a motorcycle accident, as well as families who have lost a loved one, could be entitled for financial compensation for damages and expenses that resulted from the accident. This could include medical expenses, funeral costs, and pain and suffering. Working with an attorney is one way to learn more about the legal options for seeking restitution.
