Many motorists in Jasper and elsewhere choose to ride motorcycles for their convenience and fuel efficiency, among other reasons. While the size and build of motorcycles largely contributes to the reasons people choose to ride them, they can also make it difficult for other motorists to see them on the roads, particularly if the other motorists are not driving with care. Even a minor collision between a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle can result in the motorcyclist being seriously injured or even killed.
A recent car and motorcycle accident in Kansas reportedly resulted in the motorcyclist being injured. No details were available regarding the injuries that the man sustained or his condition, but he was taken to the hospital for treatment following the wreck. Depending on the severity of the man’s injuries, he may require surgery or other medical treatment, which could result in unexpected and undue medical expenses. The collision could also cost him income if he is forced to take time off work to recuperate from his injuries.
The man who was driving the car was reportedly cited for his role in causing the crash. According to reports, the driver was turning left when he struck the motorcycle. News reports of the motorcycle accident did not indicate which driver had the right of way when the collision occurred. The car’s driver, however, was ticketed for inattentive driving and for failing to yield.
Motorcyclists who are injured in accidents have the right to seek financial compensation for their injuries and damages. An attorney may be able to offer guidance and help anyone involved in this type of collision to determine whether or not to take legal action.
