Truck hits car broadside, kills teenager

Every day, thousands of people get behind the wheels of their automobiles and take to Alabama roads and highways, thinking little of it. Yet the reality of a serious motor vehicle accident taking place is always high. Safe driving and defensive driving habits can only protect in so many situations. For the lucky ones, an accident causes only minor damage and no personal injury. For the unlucky ones, catastrophic injuries or even death can result.

A Fairview High School senior was recently among the list of unlucky ones when his 1998 Mercury was stuck by a 2002 Chevrolet truck on Alabama 69 early on a Friday evening. The truck, driven by a 56-year old man, hit side of the teen’s vehicle on the boy’s side. The 17-year old was killed as a result of the car crash. The truck’s driver and 55-year old female passenger were injured although no details were provided in news reports on their specific injuries or condition. They were reportedly taken for treatment to Cullman Regional Medical Center.

The accident is being investigated by the Alabama State Troopers for further details. The pain and suffering likely already endured and still to be endured by the teenager’s family and friends is great. While the reason for the auto accident is still unknown, the community has come together to support those who are suffering the loss.

Anyone who has lost a loved one in a crash can potentially get assistance from an experienced attorney. Whether caused by a negligent driver, a drunk driver or more, the need for compensation can be real and help may be available.
