An automobile accident can happen in the blink of an eye and result in life changing circumstances and events. Alabama motorists know the importance of safe driving to avoid such situations but sometimes, sadly, they are seemingly unavoidable. When a motor vehicle accident occurs despite the safe driving of a particular party, the event can seem tragic.
Such was the situation in a recent head-on car crash that claimed the lives of two young men. The victims were driving in a black Ford car westbound on Martin Road near Jamar Circle when a white BMW driving in the opposite direction at them swerved and hit them. The 22-year old driver of the black vehicle died while in surgery at Huntsville Hospital. His 20-year old passenger also died, although the news article did not indicate if he died at the scene or at the hospital.
The driver of the white BMW was listed in critical condition at the hospital and has thus far does not face any charges relating to the accident. Police are awaiting the results of detailed toxicology testing which could take as much as six months to get back. The driver stated that he was attempting to avoid hitting an animal on the road when he struck the other car.
Family members of those lost in accidents like this one undergo tremendous grief. While nothing can bring their loved ones back, there may be some options for other compensation. Talking with an attorney can help people to understand these potential avenues.
