Motorcyclist dies from injuries sustained after being hit by car

With a number of different types and sizes of vehicles on our Alabama roads, the importance of driving sober and alert cannot be stressed enough.  The roads are much safer for everyone this way. Unfortunately, people still get behind the wheel when they are impaired or drive carelessly, putting the lives of others in danger. A fatal motorcycle accident in Dauphin Island is a somber reminder of this.

A Mobile woman driving south on the Dauphin Island Bridge crossed the center line and hit a motorcyclist traveling north. He suffered a variety of serious injuries including severe trauma to the head; it is unknown if the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet. Two days later he died at the hospital from his injuries. The woman has since been arrested and charged with vehicular homicide. About a month prior to this fatal accident, the woman was arrested after a traffic stop for possession of drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance. It is unknown if drugs were a factor in this accident.

Motorcyclists should always ride smart and wear visible clothing and protective gear to help prevent becoming an accident victim. Still, no matter how cautious you are some accidents cannot be prevented. If you have been injured in a motorcycle accident or lost a loved one in a fatal motorcycle accident, legal help is available. You may want to consult with a personal injury attorney regarding your rights. You may be entitled to compensation to pay for medical expenses, long term care and/or lost wages.
